IF BORGES HAD PAINTED HIS LIBRARIES
I met Norberto Nunes (a Portuguese painter living in Rio de Janeiro) some time ago, in preparation for a book with his paintings on Fernando Pessoa, due to come out at the end of next summer. Most importantly, I discovered his work. He told me he painted “books”, I didn’t understand right away what he meant so I asked him for some samples. When I saw them it was as if I was seeing paintings that had been made by Jorge Luis Borges of his imaginary and infinite libraries. Some of these depict the interiors of sebos, the second hand bookshops in Brazil.
